Whilst neither study made comment upon the developing somatic components of the fetal mouse testis, a recent study which aimed to identify genes involved in congenital abnormalities of the kidney and urogenital tract (CAKUT), noted a form of cryptorchidism in a CAKUT patient heterozygous for a hypomorphic LIFR mutation34. This evidence concerns the gene LIFR and congenital anomaly of kidney and urinary tract.
