ASPN belongs to a family of small leucine-rich proteoglycans (Nakajima et al., 2007), and it is known as a major component of tumor stroma and its aberrant expression has been found in multiple tumors (Turashvili et al., 2007; Turtoi et al., 2011; Klee et al., 2012; Ansari et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene ASPN and neoplasm.
