It is known that GS infection delocalizes the tight junctions claudin-1 and occludin in polarized Caco-2 cells (Humen et al., 2011) but herein, we further show effects on amot (scaffolding protein) and mpp5 (PDZ protein that binds tight junction proteins, also known as Pals1) (Table 1). Here, PALS1 is linked to Gerstmann syndrome.
