A few examples will be cited, namely: CD36, which is responsible for Platelet glycoprotein IV deficiency, but is protective against atherosclerosis [43]; MTUS1, which associated to Hepatocellular carcinoma, but plays a protective role against inflammation [44]; and DAOA, which is associated with Schizophrenia, but is related to better cognitive performance [45]. The gene discussed is MTUS1; the disease is atherosclerosis.
