EDN1 and Hypertension: In addition to its capacity to block the L-type Ca2+ channel, sargachromenol D is also able to antagonise the vasoconstriction induced by endothelin-1 (ET-1), most likely due to its ability to act as an antagonist of the endothelin A and the endothelin B2 (ETA/B2) receptors, which can also account for its beneficial effects in hypertension [61] (Figure 4).
