Alterations in AKT, PIK3CA (which encodes for the p110α catalytic subunit of PI3K), and PTEN have been described in squamous cell carcinomas of oral origin (HSC-2, HSC-3, and HSC-4), as well as in cell carcinomas of cervical origin (HeLa, CaSki, SiHa, and C33A) [5–8]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is squamous cell carcinoma.
