Rats fed on a high fat diet to establish a hyperlipidemic model, resulted in increased plasma lipids, endothelium-derived myeloperoxidase (MPO) expression, EC senescence and endothelial dysfunction associated with a reduction in glycogen synthase 3 beta (GSK-3β) activity and p-β-catenin (Liu et al. 2015b). This evidence concerns the gene MPO and endothelial dysfunction.
