AQP1 and pancreatitis: Ohta et al. (2009) have shown that in the absence of AQP12 the course of cerulein-induced pancreatitis is much worse, probably due to the defect in the secretion of zymogens. In addition, decreased expression of AQP1 and -8 has been found in this pancreatitis model that may also affects the outcome of pancreatitis (Kitami et al., 2007).
