Furthermore, GFP fusions of proteins that are known to form inclusions in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), namely optineurin (OPTN)-GFP and an N-terminal GFP fusion of Fus1, were found to often form single inclusions co-localizing with the bonafide IPOD substrates Rnq1-GFP and Htt103Q (Kryndushkin et al., 2012). Here, OPTN is linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
