On the contrary, increased serum levels of IL-1β were found in active BS patients (mean ± SD: 463.1 ± 85.9 pg/mL) compared to the inactive BS patients (mean ± SD: 393.8 ± 124.9 pg/mL) and healthy controls (mean ± SD = 234.4 ± 123.2 pg/mL, p value = 0.016, Kruskal-Wallis test) (Table 1).
