In this study, the levels of miR-1 and the Th1-expressed cytokine IFN-γ in peripheral blood of children with acute-stage asthma were significantly lower, whereas the expression levels of the Th2 cytokines IL-4, IL-5, IL-8, and TNF-α were significantly higher than levels in children without asthma. The gene discussed is IL4; the disease is asthma.
