Although the two most common types of non-small cell lung cancer, lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), originate from distinctive cell types, they have remarkably similar integrin expression profiles, and share overexpression of ITGAV, ITGA2, ITGA11, ITGB4, and ITGB5. Also, both share underexpression of ITGB2, ITG10, ITGA9, ITGA8, ITGA5, ITGA1, ITGAM, ITGAL, and ITGAE (Figure 2B). This evidence concerns the gene ITGA5 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
