Following exposure of ear pinnae of wild type and LysM-GFP C57Bl/6 mice to infected tsetse fly bites, neutrophils (CD45+ CD11b+ Ly6CInt Ly6G+ LysM-GFPHi cells) were found to be the main innate immune cell type recruited rapidly [within 4.5 hours post infection (hpi)] to the dermal site of infection (Figs 1A and S1).
