KRAS and cancer: Among the Ras oncogene superfamily, K-Ras is the most frequently mutated isoform harboring somatic point substitution mutations at codons 12/13 in the KRAS proto-oncogene in most cancers, with prevalence of 90% in PDAC patients, 40% in CRC patients, and 25% in NSCLC patients (Bhattacharya, Socinski & Burns, 2015; Yoon et al., 2014; Prior, Lewis & Mattos, 2012).
