Mutations in CLPTM1L have been identified as risk factors in a range of cancers, including lung [30,31], pancreatic [32], colorectal [33], glioma [34] and testicular germ cell cancer [35], and the expression of CLPTM1L is significantly increased in cancerous cells when compared to healthy adjacent tissues [29,30,36].
