Leung et al. monitored promoter hypermethylation in three genes, APC, MLH1, and helicase-like transcription factor (HLTF), and found at least one of the three genes with methylated promoter DNA in the sera of 28 out of 49 CRC patients, which gave a sensitivity of 57% and specificity of 90% [83]. This evidence concerns the gene APC and colorectal carcinoma.
