In particular, knockdown of KCNJ15, a gene encoding the K+ channel Kir4.2, completely abolished galvanotaxis while maintaining the normal migration speed, which was further verified on the HaCaT cell model, a spontaneously immortalized human keratinocyte line which migrates to the cathode, and on the MDA-MB-231 cell model, a human breast adenocarcinoma line which migrates to the anode. Here, KCNJ15 is linked to breast adenocarcinoma.
