Plasma proteins that were found to be differentially expressed between patients and controls included matrix-metalloproteinase-7 (MMP-7), T-cell immunoglobulin, and mucin domain-1 (TIM-1) and thereby proteins involved in matrix degradation and inflammation – molecular features that have also been found in studies into the pathophysiology of hypertension. This evidence concerns the gene MMP7 and Hypertension.
