The BNP has been broadly proposed as a predictor of mortality event in HF patients, by a direct correlation of its blood values with cardiac pump failure, and also as independent predictor of pump failure in ischemic, and non-ischemic HF patients (Lee et al., 2003; Doust et al., 2004, 2005; Braunwald, 2008; Usuku et al., 2010). This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and hydrops fetalis.
