VEGFC and neoplasm: Indeed, overexpression of VEGF-C in a tumor leads to the hyperplastic changes in the valves of pre-existing collecting vessels, resulting in functional aberrations such as reverse lymph flow.6 At least in tumor models, VEGF-C induction of lymphatic abnormalities depends on factors that have not yet been identified.7 In a physiological environment, the abnormalities induced by VEGF-C in remote collectors depend on the age of the treated mice.
