αGC is a very potent antigen for iNKT cells, but we reasoned that due to its activation of many cytokines, the relative paucity of NKT1 cells in the joints when arthritis is established, or the poor TCR signaling by SKG iNKT cells, that this antigen might result in insufficient IFN-γ production. Here, IFNG is linked to arthritic joint disease.
