Studies have shown that ~ 80% of patients had a reduction in seizures and had improvements in cognitive impairments after a 2-week first-line treatment regimen; while 70% of patients had a good prognosis after a 2-year follow up, the recurrence rate was ~ 30%, and most recurrences occurred in the first 6 months; a small number of patients needed long-term administration of oral immunomodulatory agents and AEDs; and finally, the mortality rate of LGI1 antibody encephalitis is 6–19% [11, 26]. Here, LGI1 is linked to Cognitive impairment.
