miR-320a was reported to inhibit AQP1 and AQP4 gene expression both in vitro and in vivo in a cerebral ischemia rat model (Sepramaniam et al., 2010), whereas anti-miR-320a upregulated AQP1 and AQP4 expression with consequent reduction of infarct volume (Sepramaniam et al., 2010). This evidence concerns the gene AQP1 and brain ischemia.
