While our results strongly support a conclusion about specificity of the Warburg Trap towards cancer cells, the results suggest that this was not exclusively via Wnt inhibition, since SOX4 was repressed regardless of whether its expression is controlled by Wnt or other cell signaling pathways, such as TGFβ (Fig. 1b-c and Supplementary Fig. S1e), and this is consistent with DDIT3 being a global transcriptional repressor with a range of effects. Here, SOX4 is linked to cancer.
