Remarkably, fascin ranks first in the most highly correlated genes to CSRP2 in invasive breast cancer tumours (publicly available TCGA data at the cBioPortal for Cancer Genomics, http://www.cbioportal.org), raising the possibility that hypoxia and HIF-1 coordinate CSRP2 and fascin upregulation to promote invadopodium assembly/stabilization and invasion. The gene discussed is HIF1A; the disease is neoplasm.
