Although the cytotoxic and apoptotic effects of dihydrochalcones, specifically phloretin, have been reported in prostate cancer and breast tumor cells (Szliszka et al., 2010; Kim et al., 2013), to the best of our knowledge, there is no information on the antitumor effects of phloretin derivatives such as PDG and HDH, that have been identified in SM6Met (Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene PHGDH and prostate carcinoma.
