To study the role played by P2X4R in MS pathophysiology, we tested the effects of pharmacological or genetic blocking of P2X4 as well as the effect of the allosteric modulator ivermectin, an enhancer of P2X4R function, in the experimental autoimmune encephalitis mice (EAE), a chronic animal model of MS.
