Stepwise linear regression with PAI-1 rise expressed as a continuous variable showed that independent predictors of higher PAI-1 rise were heart failure (odds ratio [OR] 4.4, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.8-4.8; P < 0.001), thrombus aspiration (OR 3.8, 95% CI 1.2-3.9; P < 0.001), and body weight (OR -2.2, 95% CI -0.06- to -0.01; P = 0.034). The gene discussed is SERPINE1; the disease is heart failure.
