Adropin is a recently identified protein, which has been implicated in themaintenance of energy homeostasis.5A study of adropin-deficient mice suggested that this peptide hormone was requiredfor maintaining insulin sensitivity and protecting against impaired glucosetolerance.23 Thus, wehypothesized that adropin might increase as a consequence of insulin resistance inheart failure with reduced ejection fraction patients. This evidence concerns the gene INS and Insulin resistance.
