Although SW480 and HCT-116 cells were chose to subsequent experiments due to their sensitivity to azithromycin, we also needed to identify that if they were more sensitive to TRAIL than two other cells, so SRB assay was used to detect the anti-proliferation effects of TRAIL in four kinds of colon cancer cells and the results showed that TRAIL decreased the cell viability of SW480 and HCT-116 cells in a dose-dependent manner (Fig. 2b).
