An in vivo and in vitro study confirms that miR-29 can significantly inhibit HMGCR expression by targeting 3′-UTR of HMGCR mRNA and participate in the accumulation of free cholesterol in the livers of mice with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (Liu et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene HMGCR and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
