MYC and cancer: Moreover, altered c-Myc (cancer-myelocytomatosis) regulation affects the expression of the genes that are related to glutamine metabolism and aerobic glycolysis (HKII, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), pyruvate kinase isoenzyme M2 (PKM2), phosphofructokinase 1 (PFK1), and GLUT1) [21,22], and PKM2 plays a central role in the shift of cellular metabolism to aerobic glycolysis in cancer cells.
