Through our previous studies [16,17,18,19,20], we have already demonstrated that miR-29a overexpression in cholestatic mice significantly inhibited hepatocellular damage and liver fibrosis; furthermore, it considerably decreased the levels of the following pro-apoptotic proteins: Bax, phospho-Fas-associated protein with death domain (FADD), poly ADP ribose polymerase, cleaved caspase-8, and caspase 3.
