Using gastrin-grafted nanoparticles (Gastrin–MNPs) which recognize cells expressing the CCK2R and subsequently internalize using CCK2R-dependent signaling [22], we previously demonstrated that Gastrin–MNPs accumulate in the lysosomes and kill cancer cells through MILH, which occurs with a significant temperature increase at the immediate vicinity of the MNPs without increasing the temperature at the outer surface of lysosomes or the incubation medium [23].
