In our study of individuals with T2DM, we observed that one pyrosequenced CpG-dinucleotide in intron 2 of the FKBP5 gene (CpG9) was significantly associated with higher HbA1c and LDL, and another CpG-dinucleotide (CpG7) site with BMI and WC, though results should be interpreted in the context of a small sample size of 43 subjects. The gene discussed is FKBP5; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
