In these findings, because PEX1 levels are in accordance with NF-κB levels, PEX1 may play a pro-tumorigenic role in MCF-7 cells, which is supported by Bartling et al. [35] and Pang et al. [36], in opposition to what is observed in NF-κB-silenced HCC-1954 cells, as proposed by Lee et al. [37]. The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
