POLD2 and colorectal cancer: Here, we demonstrated that, in metastatic melanomas, the expression of BMAL1 is a robust positive prognostic factor of overall survival and has a negative association with the expression of key DNA-repair enzymes, such as POLD1, POLD2, and LIG1. Accordingly, in colorectal cancer, downregulation of BMAL1 gene expression accelerates cell proliferation in vitro, promotes tumor growth in mice, and decreases DNA damage induced by cisplatin (71).
