BACE1 and Alzheimer disease: The decrease of miR-29b expression can increase apoptosis markers while disinhibiting BACE1 expression to contribute to the production of Aβ in AD (Hébert et al., 2008; Kole et al., 2011; Delay et al., 2012), suggesting that altered miRNA expression may affect the pathogenesis of AD through a variety of mechanisms.
