The phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase catalytic subunit alpha (PIK3CA), also called the p110α protein, is a class of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) catalytic subunit.37, 38 In recent years, PIK3CA has been reported to be a target mutant gene in cancer cells, as well as a gene controlling glutamine cell metabolism of cancer cells.39, 40, 41 Atorvastatin strongly inhibited PIK3CA in undifferentiated hiPSCs (Figure S6), showing that atorvastatin suppresses the PI3K/AKT signaling42 essential for the survival of hiPSCs. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is cancer.
