While the role of NLRP13 remains unclear, additional data on the reported occurrence of somatic mutations in these genes in CRC suggest that NLRP2, NLRP3 and NLRP6 may impact CRC development and survival via immune cells, whereas NLRP5 might be relevant in gut tissues themselves, possibly experiencing a re-expression after malignant transformation. The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
