In this study, SrRan at a dose of 300 mg·kg−1·day−1 was efficient in attenuating the progression of osteoarthritis, improving the quality of the cartilaginous matrix by a direct stimulus on the synthesis of proteoglycans, preserving the cellular viability in oophorectomized rats, with reduced expression of caspase-3 and lower OARSI (Osteoarthritis Research Society International) scores. This evidence concerns the gene CASP3 and osteoarthritis.
