EPO and inflammation: This inhibition in cysLT synthesis was coincident with a corresponding reduction in the number of eosinophils and cell-associated EPO levels in the BALF (Figure 4B) as well as diminished peribronchial eosinophilic inflammation evident on histological examination (Figure 4C), suggesting that MWCNT-induced leukotrienes (cysLTs and possibly LTB4) promoted eosinophil accumulation in the airways.
