Given the histological changes in the mucosa of patients with IBD and the involvement of TRPV channels in intestinal inflammation, we aimed to assess the immunohistochemical quantification of TRPV1, TRPV2, TRPV3, and TRPV4 channel expression in the mucosal epithelium of colonic biopsies from patients with UC compared with colonic resections from non-IBD patients (control group). Here, TRPV4 is linked to inflammatory bowel disease.
