The repeat expansion of a hexanucleotide DNA sequence (CCGGGG) found in the 5’-untranslated region of the C9orf72 gene has been shown to be causally linked to Frontotemporal Lobar Dementia and familial Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (FTD/ALS) [1, 2]. Here, C9orf72 is linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
