Several pharmacologic and dietary inhibitors of NF‐κB are considered promising therapeutic options with chemo‐preventing or chemo‐sensitizing properties in head and neck cancer.23, 24 Curcumin is a turmeric natural supplement with known anti‐oxidant, anti‐inflammatory and anti‐cancer properties, previously shown to have potential chemopreventive effects in head and neck malignancies,25 blocking NF‐κB activation and halting the proliferation of cancer cells.26 However, the precise molecular mechanism by which curcumin inhibits NF‐κB and its related oncogenic function is not well understood. The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is cancer.
