In animal models of adjuvant-induced arthritis, osteoarthritis and neuroinflammation, it has been observed that independent activation of CB2 receptor and PPARγ can inhibit the activation of the canonical transcription factor NF-κB (Fakhfouri et al., 2012; Saravanan et al., 2014) and the mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) (Li et al., 2013; Moens et al., 2013; Ribeiro et al., 2013; Ma et al., 2015). The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is osteoarthritis.
