In mammals, the Vps38p ortholog UVRAG was initially identified by partially complementing the UV sensitivity of xeroderma pigmentosum cells (Perelman et al., 1997), and UVRAG participates in the development of a variety of human malignancies including breast and colon cancer (Bekri et al., 1997; Goi et al., 2003; Liang et al., 2007; He & Liang, 2015). The gene discussed is UVRAG; the disease is xeroderma pigmentosum.
