Only one prospective observational study of 92 septic patients with AKI included in that meta-analysis evaluated the role of NGAL as biomarker for death, and it showed that APACHE 2 and uNGAL were independent predictors for mortality at 180 days, with OR of 0.81 (95% CI 0.72-0.90) and 0, 76 (95% CI: 0.66-0.86), respectively, both with p <0.05. Here, LCN2 is linked to acute kidney injury.
