mRNA measurements revealed that expression of some genes encoding markers of inflammation including interleukin 6 (IL-6), monocyte chemotactic protein 1(MCP-1; CCL2), interleukin 1-Beta (IL-1β) but not all (INFγ) were higher in adipose from Plpp3fl/fl (fl/fl) control mice in comparison with AP2-Cre/Plpp3Δ (Δ), indicating a possible role in LPP3 in regulating obesity-stimulated inflammation (Fig 2F). Here, CCL2 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
