As DNA demethylation and activation of the AKT signaling pathway are critical for the initiation and development of SLE, and circIBTK and miR-29b could regulate both DNA demethylation and activation of the AKT signaling pathway, this explains why circIBTK and miR-29 correlated with clinicopathological variables in patients with SLE and act as biomarkers of SLE. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and systemic lupus erythematosus.
